Snowflake in Japan
In Japan, there is a winter term called "Rokka" (Mutsunohana), which is used to describe snow.
"Rokka" means "six flowers," because most snow crystals are rectangular in shape.Snow flakes are also called "Sekka" (snow flowers), and were popular as kimono patterns during the Edo period (1603-1868).
